Competition Guidelines

Registration Procedure

• I have two children. Do I need to create two different accounts?

  No. You may add multiple children in the registration form. You may link your children's accounts to your Parent Account to manage them.
  
  Parents may monitor their child's performance without the need to login to the candidate's account.

• Must I spell my name in full?

  Yes. Your Full Name and School Name will be printed on your certificate.
  
  Please ensure there are no errors in the spelling.

• Must I provide my email address?

  Yes. Every account created in the SEAMO Portal will be verified via email. You are unable to access practice material and other important documents if you are not logged in.
  
  Latest Updates such as release of results and instructions to collect your awards will also be sent via email.

• Must I provide my mailing address?

  This is not necessary if you have registered through your school and will sit for the exam within your school premises.
  
  Candidates who are sitting for the exam in a different school should provide the correct mailing address - your awards may be sent to you via post.

• Must I provide my contact number?

  This is not necessary for candidates who are sitting for the qualifying round in their own country.
  
  A contact number is compulsory for those who qualify for the Global Round (SEAMO X) for security purposes.

• What is a Hall Ticket?

  Once your registration is complete and payment is made, a Hall Ticket will be sent to you via email.
  
  Students are required to print and bring along the Hall Ticket on the day of the examination. Your Candidate No. is stated in the Hall Ticket and is used for marking purposes.

Fees and Payment

• To whom should I pay registration fees?

  An invoice with payment instructions will be sent to you via email upon registration. Simply follow the steps to make payment.

• What are the fees?

  Fees differ based on currency conversion in each country. You may refer to the invoice for clarification.

• Are there additional fees?

  No. Once the Hall Ticket is sent to you, your registration is confirmed and no further payment is required.

• How will i receive payment acknowledgement?

  A Hall Ticket will be sent to you as proof of entry to the exam.

Exam Administration

• Registration Package

  Each registered SEAMO candidate will be entitled to:

  • SEAMO Portal Login
  • Examination Entry
  • Unlimited Practice Portal (Online)
  • Past 1-Year Questions and Solutions (PDF)
  • Math Mastery Online Series training course (FREE)

  
  Parents and Teachers may create an account in the SEAMO Portal to monitor Candidates' progress and perform administrative functions.

• Mark Allocation

  

• Ranking and Results

  Candidates will be ranked by Grade Level (not paper category) within their country.
  Results displayed:

  • Award
  • Local Rank
  • Local Percentile

  
  Global Rank and Global Percentile applies to SEAMO X Candidates only.
  
  In statistics, percentile indicates a candidate's performance with respect to the performance of other candidates. The highest score correlates to the 100.00th percentile while the average score correlates to the 50.00th percentile.

• Online Examination Procedure

  • Candidates login to the SEAMO Portal
  • Candidates may attempt a mock exam in their own time
  • Candidates start the exam at the set time
  • Candidates submit their answers instantly

  
  Candidates will be allowed an unlimited number of attempts of the SEAMO mock exam to familiarise themselves with the examination platform.

• Online Examination Security

  Academic Misconduct

  This policy sets out the process and procedures for identifying, investigating and responding to incidents of Academic Misconduct by candidates who have enrolled in the SEAMO Online Examination.
  
  

  Identification Verification

  Each Candidate is required to use a device with a working camera. The webcam will capture video recordings periodically throughout the exam. SEAMO will review these recordings to determine whether or not a candidate has adhered to the Exam rules and regulations.
  
  

  Built-In Safeguards

  The examination platform is equipped with the following functionalities:

  • Time Zone detection via geolocation
  • Countdown Timer from start to end
  • Exit Fullscreen triggers auto-submit
  • Autosave upon loss of internet connection

  
  

  Data Forensics

  A variety of data points will be captured before, during and after the exam and analysed. Exam responses or patterns of behaviour that are identified as statistical anomalies may place the candidate's results under review.
  
  

  Randomisation of Question Sequence

  The order in which questions are presented to each candidate within the exam will be randomised.

Awards

• How are winners decided?

  Candidates are ranked within their own academic level. Candidates of a higher grade level will not be ranked against candidates of a lower grade level.

  Gold	92nd and above	Candidates who scored the same as or higher than 92% of participants.	Medal and Certificate
  Silver	Less than 92nd but greater or equal to 80th	Candidates who scored less than 92% but the same as or higher than 80% of participants.	Medal and Certificate
  Bronze	Less than 80th but greater or equal to 60th	Candidates who scored less than 80% but the same as or higher than 60% of participants.	Medal and Certificate
  Participation	Below 60th	Candidates who scored lower than 60% of participants.	Certificate of Participation

• Who is eligible for SEAMO X?

  SEAMO X is the international round where SEAMO top performing candidates represent their country on the global stage. There are two (2) different divisions in this round of the competition. Candidates in the Champions Division and Open Division will be ranked separately.
  
  

  SEAMO X Champions Division

  All candidates who were awarded the GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE awards are eligible to participate i.e. candidates ranked in the 60th Percentile or higher.
  
  

  SEAMO X Open Division

  All candidates who were awarded the Certificate of Participation are eligible to participate i.e. candidates ranked lower than the 60th Percentile.

• Can my award be used for entry into top schools?

  SEAMO recognises all its medal winners and will support their application for entry into top schools. Apart from Medals and Certificates, SEAMO X top performers will receive a Letter of Recommendation, which serves as an endorsement by our Chief Examiner Mr Terry Chew.
